Lesson 8: Aftercare, Maintenance & Rebooking Scripts

NT101-M03-L04

Beginner

By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

  • [ ]  Deliver a simple, professional aftercare plan for manicure clients (same-day + weekly).

  • [ ]  Explain why maintenance matters (longevity, nail health, avoiding breaks/lifting).

  • [ ]  Recommend rebooking intervals and how to set expectations confidently.

  • [ ]  Create an “aftercare card” script that supports retention and retail (without pressure).

Aftercare is part of the service (not an extra)

Clients judge results by how long they last. Aftercare is how you protect your work.

1) Same-day aftercare (the first 2–6 hours)

  • Be gentle: avoid tight jeans, deep bags, heavy cleaning, hot showers right away (polish can dent).

  • No picking/peeling.

  • Be mindful of keys, seatbelts, and opening cans.

2) Weekly habits that make results last

  • Oil nightly around cuticle area (flexibility = less chipping/peeling).

  • Gloves for cleaning (water + chemicals break products down).

  • Moisturize hands (but avoid heavy lotions right before a service).

3) How to rebook confidently (luxury language)

  • “To keep them looking like this, I recommend every 2–3 weeks.”

  • “If you’re hard on your hands, we’ll do closer to 2 weeks.”

  • “If you want longer wear, we can upgrade your finish next time.”

4) Retail without pressure (helpful, not salesy)

Position retail as support:

  • “This oil is what keeps your nails flexible and helps your manicure last.”

  • “If you use it nightly, you’ll see less peeling.”

5) Luxury standard

Luxury aftercare is:

  • short (20–30 seconds)

  • confident (clear recommendation)

  • personalized (one tip for their lifestyle)

<p class="font_8">Instructor demonstrates:</p>
<ol class="font_8">
<li><p class="font_8">20-second aftercare script (simple and confident).</p></li>
<li><p class="font_8">Rebooking language (no pressure).</p></li>
<li><p class="font_8">Retail recommendation language (helpful, not salesy).</p></li>
<li><p class="font_8">Example: customizing aftercare based on a client lifestyle.</p></li>
</ol>
<p class="font_8">What to watch for:</p>
<ul class="font_8">
<li><p class="font_8">Tone is calm and professional.</p></li>
<li><p class="font_8">Specific instructions (not vague).</p></li>
<li><p class="font_8">Clear next step (rebook interval).</p></li>
</ul>

Instructor coaches students through the skill.

Guided practice flow (15–25 min)

  1. Students write a 20-second aftercare script.

  2. Pair up: role-play aftercare + rebook recommendation.

  3. Practice 3 lifestyle scenarios (cleaner, office worker, parent).

Coach’s checklist:

  • [ ]  Aftercare advice is specific (oil, gloves, timing)

  • [ ]  Rebooking recommendation is clear (2–3 weeks)

  • [ ]  Retail language is helpful, not pushy

  • [ ]  Student can customize for lifestyle

Ask AI to Script

  • Write an aftercare script for a client who is hard on their hands.

  • Write an aftercare text message follow-up for a manicure.

Ask AI to Role Play

  • Role play a client who doesn’t want to rebook—help me respond professionally.

<p class="font_8">Students perform the skill independently with a clear challenge.</p>
<ul class="font_8">
<li><p class="font_8">Challenge prompt: Create 3 aftercare scripts for 3 client lifestyles + a rebooking line for each.</p></li>
<li><p class="font_8">Success criteria:Scripts are short, clear, and professional<br>
