By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
[ ] Pick up consistent acrylic beads with correct ratio (not too wet or too dry).
[ ] Demonstrate the “3-zone” placement concept (cuticle zone, apex/strength zone, free edge zone).
[ ] Practice basic bead placement and pat-and-press control without flooding the cuticle.
[ ] Identify 3 common bead-control mistakes and how to correct them in real time.
Bead control builds everything
If you can control a bead, you can build a shape. If you can’t, every set becomes stressful.
1) Ratio recap (quick)
Too wet: runs, floods cuticle, takes long to set.
Too dry: grainy, won’t smooth, weak structure.
Correct: satiny, holds shape, can be guided.
2) The 3-zone concept (beginner version)
Zone 1 (cuticle): thinnest area; clean margin; no bulk.
Zone 2 (apex/strength): structure and balance.
Zone 3 (free edge): tapered and sealed; not bulky.
3) The “place → wait → press” rhythm
Place bead.
Wait 1–3 seconds (let it settle).
Press/guide into shape (pat-and-press).
4) Top mistakes + quick fixes
Flooding cuticle: bead too wet or placed too close → use drier bead; place farther back; keep a clean margin.
Lumpy surface: moving too soon → wait a second before guiding.
Weak structure: apex too flat → build zone 2 slightly higher.
5) Luxury standard
Luxury acrylic looks like:
clean cuticle margin
controlled thickness
smooth surface (less filing later)

Instructor coaches students through the skill.
Guided practice flow (15–25 min)
Students pick up 10 beads aiming for consistent ratio.
Students place zone 1 bead on 5 nails (practice surface).
Students add zone 2 bead and practice building a gentle apex.
Students add zone 3 bead and taper free edge.
Coach’s checklist:
[ ] Beads are consistent ratio
[ ] Zone 1 stays thin and clean (no flooding)
[ ] Apex/strength zone is present (not flat)
[ ] Free edge is sealed and not bulky
[ ] Pat-and-press used (not over-brushing)

My bead keeps running—what should I change first?
My acrylic is grainy—what should I change first?
