Beginner

By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

 • [ ] Complete a beginner acrylic full set workflow (prep → tips/forms → build → file → finish) using a consistent checklist.

 • [ ] Build a basic, balanced structure using the 3-zone method (thin cuticle, strength/apex, tapered free edge).

 • [ ] Maintain clean edges (no flooding) and safe technique (no over-filing, comfort checks).

 • [ ] Deliver aftercare and a rebooking plan for acrylic maintenance clients.

Full set = putting all fundamentals together

This is where your setup, ratio, zones, shaping, and finishing become one workflow.

1) Beginner full set checklist (high-level)

 1. Sanitize + consult (comfort + expectations).

 2. Prep natural nail (shape + cuticle + cleanse).

 3. Tips/forms (fit + placement + shape baseline).

 4. Acrylic application (3-zone build).

 5. File + refine (sidewalls → free edge → surface → cuticle).

 6. Finish (top coat/polish) + oil.

 7. Aftercare + rebook.

2) The 3-zone build reminder

 • Zone 1: thin and clean (no skin contact).

 • Zone 2: strength (apex/structure).

 • Zone 3: tapered free edge (sealed).

3) Your “stop signs” (safety)

Pause if:

 • you see flooding or product on skin (wipe/clean immediately)

 • you feel heat from filing (reduce pressure/grit)

 • there is pain, bleeding, or broken skin (adjust or stop)

4) Luxury standard

Luxury acrylic full set looks like:

 • clean cuticle line

 • balanced structure (side view)

 • smooth finish with minimal dust

 • calm, confident service flow

Clean edges before curing/setting.

Instructor coaches students through the skill.

Guided practice flow (15–25 min)

 1. Students run prep + tip application on a practice hand.

 2. Students build 3-zone acrylic on 5 nails with instructor pauses.

 3. Students file using the checklist and finish with top coat.

Coach’s checklist:

 • [ ] Prep complete and clean

 • [ ] Tips aligned and sized correctly

 • [ ] Zone 1 thin + clean

 • [ ] Apex present

 • [ ] Smooth finish + consistent shape

Ask AI to Troubleshoot

 • My full set looks bulky—what should I change in zone placement?

 • My set lifts at the cuticle—what should I check first?

Ask AI to Plan

 • Create a 4-week practice plan to improve acrylic full sets.

Students perform the skill independently with a clear challenge.
