Chrome is unforgiving—because it reflects everything

Chrome/glazed nails are basically a mirror. Any bump, scratch, or uneven top coat will show instantly. Luxury chrome is:

smooth
evenly burnished
sealed at the edges
durable (doesn’t peel)

1) The 3 keys to a perfect chrome finish

Smooth base (refined surface, no scratches)
Correct layer to rub onto (product-specific: no-wipe top or proper cure timing)
Correct sealing method (edges protected)

2) Step-by-step chrome application (general system)

Finish file and buff to smooth.
Apply base color (if needed) and cure.
Apply no-wipe top coat (or the recommended layer) and cure per instructions.
Burnish chrome powder evenly using applicator/sponge.
Dust off gently (no harsh wiping that removes pigment).
Seal: apply top coat carefully, cap the free edge, cure fully.

Note: Chrome methods vary by brand. Always follow the brand directions once you choose your system.

3) Sealing strategy (why most chrome fails)

Chrome fails when:

the free edge isn’t sealed
the top coat isn’t compatible
product is too thin or too thick at the edge

Luxury tip:

seal twice if needed: a thin base seal layer + final top coat.
