Advanced
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
[ ] Use a decision system to choose repair vs remove (based on safety, retention, and time).
[ ] Perform 3 common repairs (crack repair, corner rebuild, lift-pocket removal + patch) safely and cleanly.
[ ] Communicate a professional “service recovery” script (policies, pricing, and expectations) without losing confidence.
[ ] Document repairs and create a prevention plan (what caused the failure and how to stop repeat issues).
Repair skill = master professionalism
Master techs don’t avoid problems—they handle them with standards. Repairs are about:
safety (no infection risk, no damaged nail plate)
structure (rebuild strength correctly)
boundaries (protect your time and pricing)
client experience (calm, confident service recovery)
1) Repair vs remove decision system
Repair when:
the nail plate is healthy
the break/lift is localized
the client wants to keep length/shape and it’s safe
Remove and rebuild when:
lifting is widespread
there is pain, redness, or suspected nail damage
structure is too compromised to patch safely
2) The 3 most common repairs (high-level)
A) Crack repair
remove weak product around the crack
reinforce with correct structure
refine and seal
B) Corner rebuild
correct sidewall architecture (corners need support)
rebuild thickness zone
check down-the-barrel symmetry
C) Lift pocket removal + patch
remove lifted product fully (never seal over lifting)
re-prep the exposed nail plate safely
apply patch and rebalance structure
3) Professional service recovery scripts
Comfort script: “Thank you for telling me—let’s fix this safely and get you back to a strong set.”
Policy script: “Repairs within X days due to product failure are covered; breaks from impact are priced as a repair.”
Prevention script: “This break happened at the corner—next time we’ll reinforce sidewalls and adjust length.”
4) Prevention planning (master move)
After every repair, document:
where it failed (cuticle/sidewall/tip)
likely cause (prep, structure, client behavior)
fix plan (product, length, aftercare)
5) Luxury standard
Luxury repairs are:
invisible
strong
clean margins
client feels cared for and confident

Practice drills:
Crack repair on 3 tips.
Corner rebuild on 3 tips.
Lift pocket removal + patch on 3 tips.
Coach’s checklist:
[ ] Correct repair vs remove decision stated
[ ] All lifted product removed
[ ] Structure rebalanced
[ ] Repair blends invisibly
[ ] Policy script delivered confidently
Create a repair decision tree I can use during services.
Quiz me on repair vs remove scenarios (15 questions).
Help me write a luxury repair policy in my brand voice.
Give me 5 prevention strategies for repeated breaks.
